Fair Judgement??

Dear students

I have often experienced students at almost all levels complaining that teachers are not always fair in their judgement or they favour students they like.Well, this is not always true.Maybe at times we do come across a situation where things look unfair but in reality that is not true!Judgement or making a decision is a big responsibility on our part where we,as teachers try our best to do what is best.In the recent past ,I had tried my best to train all my students to share with me the responsibility to evaluate and make decisions. We have successfully given a fair chance to everyone in the inter class declamation, where you decided who should be selected and the documentary competition, where we had external judges to evaluate your work.I am sure there will be many other competitions that all of you are going to be a part of.I actually want all of you to share with me how you feel decisions should be taken as far as your school and class activities are concerned. How can you help to organize and make things better? How much responsibility are you ready to take on?Or do you just want to be the silent, passive participant wanting things to happen by themselves.Share your ideas how can we as a class or team make things better.Your suggestions are extremely valuable :)

  1. If you ask a student today who the Greatest Generation is, they might respond by pointing in a mirror. Young people's unprecedented level of self-infatuation is revealed if you ask students to rate themselves compared to their peers.

Students often describe themselves as being 'above average' in the areas of academic ability, drive to achieve, mathematical ability, and self-confidence. But in appraising the traits that are considered less invidualistic - cooperativeness, understanding others, and spirituality – they remain behind; though here also they call themselves champions!

These young egoists can grow up to be depressed adults. So its time they start taking things seriously, accept their flaws and over come the unrealistic expectations. That they have from their parents and teachers.

    1. Since we all know that the motto of Beacon house consists 'Beaconhouse aims to provide quality of better eduacation'.The teachers struggle hard to provide us with the best eduacation so we should'nt debate on each and every step that the teachers pick.Teachers are more expierenced and they know that whats good and whats bad for us.In the terms of activities, they always pick a child who has confidence and can do such an activity. Some children show and present confidence and then at the end the teacher comes to know that the child was not interested in that activity.Instead of blaiming teachers, children should themselves be confident to do the activity. But teachers,No favouritism should take place and you should select the person whom you trust and everyone should gbe provided with a chance. This will help everyone to have a fair chance to participate.

  5. The teachers think that nothing happens if they cut their marks but the parents scold their children for getting bad marks in their tests. The fault is not of children.Negative marking should not happen in school because children get despressed because of the preasure on them for home so they get bad marks.

  10. Our teachers are our masters who tell us what to do and i think that some teachers use this as an advantage. They just be nice to us so they can fool us.Another thing is that they only like those students which are intelligent as they make their job easy rather than those who eat their minds and make the job difficult. They also
give higher marks to the intelligent students as a sign of liking.Fahad sheheryar and saad

  11. Our Teachers are like our parents. We have to do whatever they say. They are not our enemies.Sometimes we get scolded and we get very angry but teachers always do fair work with us.

  12. we think that this blog highlights an important point in every student's life. Fair judgement should be present in every system, school and class. It provides every student with an opportunity to show their true talent. When teachers take a student's side, the others feel let down or discouraged because they do not get a chance to excel. We hope this blog brings an important change in our society and we are looking forward to how this blog can bring an irreversible and positive change.

  18. Fair judgement they say..... Well that's not true at all,all teachers mostly give prestige to the most intelligent student of the class and all the rest of the students are not given a chance to show their talent.
All students should be ranked alike and should be given an equal chance to participate in co-curricular activities. If competitions are held in the school everyone should be acknowledged through proper and clear means. Proper deadlines should be given and trials should be taken from EVERY student who wants to participate.

  19. We think that fair judgement OR making the right decision should be a teacher's no. 1 priority and, especially, in class competitions like debating etc. every student be given a chance to mark his class fellow. Here, virtues like honesty are highlighted but as far as teachers are concerned, they along with their experience, should be able to pull off the right decision upon which everyone agrees! maybe, if taking a vote from each student is considered, then the right decision can be made... :D

  21. Fair Judgement?? Does such a thing even exist?
I personally think it doesn't. At least not in higher classes. Teacher nowadays make biased judgements and decisions. It makes things difficult for students as favoritism snatches away there opportunities. Their tests and exams are also unjustly marked.
Our suggestions are that first of all the teachers should judge every student equally and second of all they should announce all the contests, trials of teams; so that every student gets an equal chance, every time. :)

  22. We all are here in the school for making our future better and i think that this should be the aim of every student in BSS. The article of "Fair Judgement" is a very effective and nice article and this would also encourage students to improve themselves in their acadamic sector. Some teachers do favouritism but there are very less teachers who do favouritism.I think this is a very nice article and would help students to improve.

  23. The assumed fact that Teachers favour some students on the basis of their appearance and personal intellect is downright wrong and completely baseless. Favourism is a prejudice not a reality. We humble students believe that teachers should form the basis of their decisions, not on class popularity, but according to fair scale that will allow every student regardless of their abilities to participate and interact in curricular as well as social activities.
